Pow Pow Poncho SBL-2 and Kiss me True RBL

Both will be having a face up, even though i think Kiss me true is actually a pretty stock girl,but must admit i am not that keen on Pow Pow stock face at all, and her hair is really greasy as well, so i am hoping to re-root with ginger mohair, that and some cute freckles i am sure i will fall in love with her :D

Opening a RBL/FBL Blythe head

After all the horror stories I read about opening up an RBL, I was very reluctant to try and open mine.

RBL have three little screws at the back of the head, you also have the little square hole that has the spring attached, now for me trying to unhook that spring before opening the head was a pain and just far to fiddly, so I unattached after I opened.

  You will read a lot of post on blogs and websites stating that you have to a considerable amount of presser at the ears for it to pop open…so I was surprised when my head popped with hardly any pressure at all.  

As you can see from the picture above the spring is still attached to the back of the head, if you are going to attempt to unhook by this method, don’t pull the head to far apart, otherwise you will over stretch the spring and it won’t work when you hook it back. To unattached mine I used a metal crochet hook {buy one for your tool bag if you crochet, because you will end up blunting them} and a pair of tweezers.

The great thing about RBL is you can open the face, without having to touch her scalp like the other earlier models. Another bonus is you swap scalps with other RBLs to change your Blythe if you don’t want to go down the re-root avenue  and also change face plates!

Hello *waves*

I decided to create this blog space, to document my doll customising journey,  I have never customised a doll before, so I am a total beginner, I don’t know anyone in real life that dose this either so it’s going to be a total learning curve, and I sure a lot of mistakes will be made lol.

I have already made start on customising my first Blythe so please be patient with me while I put together all the posts and pictures for the relevant stages : D

But for now I would like to introduce you to my stock girl simply Chocolate, she is a FBL which stands for Fairest,{but her head and mechanisms are the same as the RBL which stands for radiant, as far as I can tell}   I brought her from eBay and it took roughly two weeks for her to arrive from  Japan.

Over the next few Days I will update the blog, with information on tools I am using where I got them, the websites I have been using to educate myself, and my own tutorials on the technique I used to take apart face plate, sand mat the face ,face carve, and scalp :D
